                                                               Faris

10)

That was just the beginning, his abuse increased with time. For although Faris’ guidance lifted DC’s grades to B,B,C,C,C. To see if they would lift higher by the next marking period was not on DU’s mind. He called Faris into the den and the beating began with a slap in the face. This was anchored with conversation of I had really hoped you thought I wasn’t playing with you. This attack was with fists and feet

No more family meetings. Under this scenario, plays that were made during the trial, fractured the family. Faris and little brother were isolated. And you can’t talk about the increasing bouts of physical abuse, without (noting) the increase in the mental anguish. He was being made to feel helpless in a dangerous world. And remember when he first started living with DU, he was 11yo.

I think these swells and bruises, punches and kicks, are both 2nd and 3rd degree, especially when considering the fact DU beat on him with the mind to hit him in spots where the sun didn’t shine. 3rd degree is a full thickness burn penetrating the top 3 layers of skin, whereas a 4th degree burn goes a little further to the fat layer. For 5th and 6th, you are talking muscle, then bone, which are nearly always fatal.

4th degree was next. It came when DC went to practice and Faris didn’t so as to catch up on his studies as he, like his father, was wont to do. While he was doing so, Distant Aunt (DA) went to his bedroom and told him she needed him to do some chores—clean the dogs cage and mop the kitchen floor—the things DC was supposed to do. All he could think was he would have had more luck studying in the bleachers. He told her he was almost done studying but she said he had to do them now. Faris continued his studies, no matter how she chided.

The DA couldn’t wait to hand down her indictments when DU got home and he headed straight to Faris. Not only was he being beaten but his efforts to escape were hampered at every turn. Finally, he was grabbed by the neck and picked up against the wall and choked him out.
Whereas I depict situations that mimic real life so as to have certain reference points to expound on, that doesn’t make it a fairytale for I could just as easily get real-life situations from the web. In the case of 5th and 6th degree, I will do just that.

Justice.

5th degree

6th degree
