It was our uncle and an old family friend
Bursting in with news of a bigger house
Not 5 minutes had passed when the phone rang
I knew who it was and almost let out a shout
It was grandma, mom and dad and little brother and I
Let them know our excitement because uncle was here
How seeing his face was like a breath of fresh air
And I couldn’t believe it had been a year
Dad announced he had a surprise for this visit
Saying it would be a few more months before mom comes home
And he thought it would be a nice time to introduce
Us back to our original foundation
We were bustling with excitement
When dad asked to speak privately with DU
He told him he had a buyer for the house and
Although it was sudden, it was the best thing for him to do
DU told dad it was too short notice
For he and his family to have to move
Dad told him the pics of his son’s busted face
Should put a fire under his butt and change that groove
And how he hoped DU was in a better financial position
Being that he wasn’t paying a house note or rent
That he was setting it up for his boys to have a place back home
Which was costly and he would not be able to help him with one red cent
