Oh, I forgot,
THE END
And all ended well like a 30-minute episode. Yet we all know that isn’t some of our realities, because there are many degrees of abuse just as there is a hierarchy to degrees if one were to have an incident of being burned with fire.
Faris was hit about his face and body by a full-grown man, and with him being only 13yo that was tough, on many fronts. His trauma – the result of extraordinarily stressful events that shatter your sense of security, to me should be rated as a 1st degree burn, if that. Hey, I felt bad that he was being beat up by his uncle too. Even when Faris had to stay home from school so it wouldn’t be seen by the public, my rating is still 1st degree.
Faris may have been in a better spot than some because he was always in contact with those who genuinely cared for him and he knew how long his turbulence would last.
Trauma can make you feel helpless in a dangerous world. Faris was never helpless. When it first started, to make his burden lighter, if you remember his father told him “dude, we wrestle harder than that when we play”. Whereas he was in a depressing situation or one which made him feel anxious, I don’t anticipate a need for CLINICAL intervention.
Let’s get a little technical here, let’s say it depends on the person. I can see that. So we’ll begin just by rating the fire. Let’s rate the abuse and the burns using Faris.
